Active RFID Solutions

IBSS offers comprehensive active RFID systems and solutions. An active tag solution is one that typically involves real time tracking/location of assets, personnel, containers, pallets, or virtually anything where a reusable or semi-permanent type id tag can be applied. These solutions can involve reader/tag configurations that will read as closely as several feet out to as far as 300 feet. In addition we have solutions that can utilize existing Wi-Fi network infrastructure (Access Points and an 802.11 wireless network) along with corresponding id tags to track Wi-Fi enabled devices.

Asset Tracking

Examples of active tag solutions:

  • Tracking/location wheelchairs, iv-pumps and personnel in hospitals
  • Container tracking for Manufacturing, Shipping, or Distribution Systems
  • Trailer/Vehicle location for Yard Management Systems
  • Assembly line tracking of vehicles or parts
  • Tracking of Laptops, PDA's or any WI-FI enabled device
These examples are only a few of the limitless applications where an IBSS Active RFID Solution can provide real benefit to an organization.

Active Tag Technologies:

  • Active tags with fixed readers (Portal Technology) - With this type of system, fixed portals/read zones are set up at key locations within a given facility. Read zones are adjustable to allow reliable tag reads from several feet up to 300 feet from the reader antenna. Active tags are applied to the item/personnel to be tracked.

    Yard Management

When the tagged item/personnel passes through the zone, it is sensed by the reader and a message sent back to the central software tracking application. This type solution allows tracking to a user defined zone level.
  • 802.11 wireless devices/tags and a WI-FI network - IBSS also offers an active solution that utilizes existing or new 802.11 infrastructure for reading WI-FI enabled or tagged items. With this type system, the area/facility is "blanketed" by the 802.11 field and the tags are continuously monitored to pinpoint an item to within several feet. The advantage to this type of system is a more discrete location of the object and utilization of existing wireless infrastructure. The downside is the WI-FI enabled tags do not have the extensive battery life of traditional active tags and may require frequent charging.
Coupled with our active tag solutions is our state of the art asset tracking software application, SynTrack™. SynTrack provides a real time dynamic user interface to quickly and easily locate and manage any tagged asset, item, or person.
