IBSS and Arthur Blank & Co. Gain Wide Audience For Their Innovative RFID Café Point of Service Demonstration at 3rd Annual RFID World
COLUMBIA, SC and DES PLAINES, IL - (BUSINESSWIRE) - March 15, 2005 - Integrated Business Systems and Services, Inc. (IBSS) (OTCBB:IBSS), inventor and marketer of Synapse™, the powerful development and execution technology for mobile computing and RFID software applications, said its joint exhibit with Arthur Blank & Company (ABCO) at the 3rd Annual RFID World in Dallas, Texas, March 1-3, "far exceeded our expectations," according to Lee Dunston, IBSS' Director of Sales.
Some 3,000 executives interested in using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to solve a wide range of tracking and monitoring challenges gathered at the conference, along with 350 leading suppliers of tags, readers, software and integrated solutions. RFID involves the use of tiny microchips that are stuck on everything from soft drinks to auto parts, cargo trucks to heart monitors.
"IBSS stood out," Dunston said. "While most exhibitors focused on supply chain management, IBSS and ABCO showcased what it called the RFID Café -- a solution specifically addressing retail Point of Service applications. This is an area of enormous interest and potential, and an application that demonstrates performance features which can be utilized in any number of industries and contexts."
RFID Café is a proof of concept solution that enables the use of ABCO's RFID preferred customer cards in self-service kiosks to promote higher-efficiency "line-busting" in busy restaurant operations.
"Having an actual application to fully demonstrate the capability of our RFID stored value cards significantly increased interest in our exhibit throughout the show," said Dan Gould, Arthur Blank and Company's Director of Business Development. "Not only did we demonstrate a variety of card types and applications (including RFID stored value cards), but we also showed the ability to read and write to the cards in a real-world context. We were very pleased with the proof of concept application developed by our integrator IBSS."
In the RFID Café card and platform demonstration, preferred customers are issued special loyalty cards that store dollar values for purchasing food; tally award points based on frequency of purchases; and record 'quick-order' preferences to speed order processing and eliminate long lines at the register.
An added attraction at the IBSS/ABCO exhibit was a 'Wave and Win' prize program, in which show attendees were given RFID cards, some of which, when waved at a high-tech reader, identified their owners as winners of free iPods. This fun exercise was, in fact, another demonstration of the function and value of RFID cards and remote-reader self-service kiosks.
The RFID cards used in the IBSS/ABCO exhibit were among the first produced by ABCO, which announced its entry into RFID card production at RFID World. ABCO is already the leader in card marketing solutions for the loyalty, gift, identification, membership, access and security markets.
IBSS' Chief Executive Officer, Dr. George Mendenhall, noted, "The RFID World event was particularly important for our marketing program. Attendance was up significantly (3,000 vs. 1,200 a year ago), reflecting increasing interest in and demand for RFID solutions, and there were large numbers of media and industry analysts in addition to prospective customers."
"In May 2004," Dr. Mendenhall continued, "we announced that IBSS had been selected by Arthur Blank & Company as their preferred integrator, with the goal of producing a state-of-the-art RFID-enabled Point of Service application. Our RFID World exhibit was the execution of that original goal. It clearly demonstrates the strength and vitality of our partnership with ABCO, and provides just a hint of what we intend to accomplish together. IBSS and ABCO are currently following up on the many quality leads generated at the show; we also look forward to assisting those ABCO card customers who want to implement an efficient RFID solution using the proven IBSS data management and integration system."
