IBSS and Prospect Airport Services' PDS Express Improves Efficiency While Increasing the Customer Satisfaction of Airline Travelers in Detroit Metropolitan Airport
Greatly Improved Passenger Service Is Enjoyed By 'Special Needs' Travelers Being Serviced Each Day
First Year's Success In Detroit Leads To Multi-Site Expansion
COLUMBIA, SC and DES PLAINES, IL - (BUSINESSWIRE) - March 8, 2005 - Integrated Business Systems and Services, Inc. (IBSS) (OTCBB:IBSS), inventor and marketer of Synapse™, the powerful development and execution technology for mobile computing and RFID software applications, and Prospect Airport Services, Inc., one of the Nation's leading providers of contracted services to major airlines, today announced that PDS (Prospect Dispatch System) Express, the Synapse(tm)-based wireless system developed through a joint endeavor between Prospect and IBSS to address Prospect's unique business challenges, has achieved dramatic increases in productivity and customer satisfaction at Prospect's operations in the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. The system is serving the special needs of over a quarter million disabled and elderly passengers each year in Detroit. PDS Express exceeds all guidelines mandated by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for handling .special needs' travelers in accordance with The Air Carrier Access Act of 1986.
Based on the successful implementation of the system in Detroit, Prospect now intends to deploy additional PDS Express systems in international airports located in Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Dallas. PDS Express was specifically developed by IBSS to address the unique challenges that Prospect historically encountered when serving passengers who require assisted gate-to-gate wheelchair transport and other passenger special services in the major airports that Prospect serves.
Powered and driven by IBSS' Synapse™, PDS Express incorporates a variety of rugged wireless hand-held mobile devices and real-time integration with the airlines' reservations systems. The tech-driven PDS Express solution provides Prospect's Passenger Service Attendants, supervisors and dispatchers with accurate, time-sensitive dispatch and online flight information necessary to electronically log passenger pick-up and delivery, along with real-time access and connectivity with Prospect's on-site operations center.
James Wajda, Regional Vice President of Prospect, noted, "PDS Express' performance has been nothing short of stellar since going into full production in July of 2004. Getting real-time information from the airline reservation system into the hands of our Passenger Service Attendants, precisely where and when they need it results in greatly improved passenger service. PDS Express allows our airline partners to virtually eliminate passenger service DOT complaints while improving overall passenger service in areas such as passenger name recognition, real-time connecting gate information and data collection. PDS Express has revolutionized the way special services are dispatched in a hub environment and has forever changed our industry."
Continuing, Wajda added, "In addition, the biggest beneficiaries of PDS Express are our elderly or disabled air travelers who are now receiving personalized, efficient point-to-point service when traveling through an airline hub powered by PDS Express. The major air carrier we represent in Detroit has expressed strong satisfaction with the system. Prospect is pleased to announce that we intend to replicate the system in each of the airports in which we are contracted by air carriers to provide wheelchair transport services. Furthermore, Prospect intends to release an advanced version of PDS Express which will be fully integrated into the airline reservation system and will be able to electronically track the progress of unaccompanied minors between connecting flights in a busy airline hub. This will give parents piece of mind when they are able to verify that their child has successfully made a connection in a distant city. This is just one of many updates slated for our PDS Express software system."
Vicki L. Strobel, President of Prospect, added, "The PDS Expresshas proven itself in Detroit during our most difficult season, winter, where the volume of travel is increased due to Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years holiday related travel. This very busy travel time was complicated by the Detroit winter weather. Especially during these very busy times, our elderly and disabled passengers require assistance. It was during this most challenging winter period that PDS Express increased customer satisfaction by 25% while increasing our productivity by 10%. We will be moving quickly to implement the benefits of PDS Express into airports in Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Dallas."
George Mendenhall, Chief Executive Officer of IBSS, stated, "Our relationship with Prospect Airport Services is an excellent example of how IBSS' technology, methodology and expertise can enable our customers to rapidly achieve their strategic goals by creating enterprise solutions and rapidly deploying those solutions in a new more productive way. Not only is PDS Express playing a role in assuring carriers are in compliance with the US Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations that address the special needs of disabled and/or elderly travelers, but it is also playing a pivotal role in dramatically enhancing Prospect's competitive value proposition."
